SYNTHETIC CARPET WITH MEDIUM TO HEAVILY SOILED AREAS GUIDE

Professional Carpet Cleaning Guide – Low-Pile Synthetic Carpets (Polypropylene & Polyester)

Step 1: Pre-Vacuuming

  • Thoroughly pre-vacuum the carpet to remove loose dirt and debris.

Step 2: Prepare Pre-Spray Solution

  • Mix WS Hybrid Pre-Spray at 30ml per litre of water.

Step 3: Apply Pre-Spray

  • Apply a heavy, even coat of pre-spray using overlapping passes.

  • Allow the solution to dwell for 15 minutes, during which it will break down soils and deodorise the carpet.

Step 4: Agitation (Optional)

  • After dwell time, manual or mechanical scrubbing can be used to further agitate the carpet, although this is not always necessary.

Step 5: Rinse Extraction

  • Prepare your rinse solution by mixing WS High Power WS Neutraliser (Acidic Rinse) at 30ml per 10 litres of clean water.

  • Rinse extract the carpet slowly and methodically using your cleaning wand.

Tip: For every wet pass, follow with at least two dry passes.
On polypropylene and polyester carpets, zig-zagging or “shark’s teeth” will not permanently disrupt the pile, but for a professional finish, maintain a uniform pass pattern.

Step 6: Spot Treatment

  • Any remaining stains can be treated using a suitable spot cleaning product.

  • Refer to the Spotting Guide for detailed instructions and product selection.

Step 7: Deodorisation

  • WS Hybrid Pre-Spray effectively deodorises synthetic carpets and removes odours.

  • For enhanced results, add a deodoriser to the rinse tank or lightly spray over the carpet after extraction.
