Professional Carpet Cleaning Guide – Spot Urine Neutralisation for Carpets
Equipment Required
UV light, moisture metre, and water claw.
Step 1: Prepare Pre-Spray Solution
Mix High Power Urine Neutraliser and Mattress Pre-Spray at spotter strength (1:1 or 1 litre per 1 litre).
Step 2: Apply Pre-Spray
Apply a small amount of the solution to the affected area only.
Leave to dwell for 15 minutes to neutralise urine at a molecular level.
Note: Some odour may remain from the underlay or surrounding materials.
Step 3: Rinse Extraction
Prepare your rinse solution by mixing High Performance Rinse at 15ml per 10 litres of clean water.
Rinse extract the treated area slowly and methodically using your cleaning wand.
Tip: For every wet pass, follow with at least two dry passes. On polypropylene and polyester carpets, zig-zagging or “shark’s teeth” will not permanently disrupt the pile, but for a professional finish, maintain a uniform pass pattern.
Step 4: Flush Heavily Contaminated Areas
Use a water claw if necessary to flush areas with high urine contamination.
Step 5: Deodorisation
High Power Urine Neutraliser and Mattress Pre-Spray effectively deodorises carpet fibres.
For enhanced odour control, a deodoriser may be added to the rinse tank or lightly sprayed over the carpet after extraction.
Step 6: Protective Coating
To limit future contamination, apply WS Advanced Fabric Stain Protection at a 1:1 dilution.
This provides a long-lasting dirt and hydrophobic barrier and can be applied wet or dry.
