Professional Carpet Cleaning Guide – Intensive Treatment for Severely Damaged Wool Carpets
Step 1: Pre-Vacuuming
Thoroughly pre-vacuum the affected area to remove loose debris.
Ensure all dust and dirt are removed before chemical application.
Step 2: Prepare Pre-Spray Solution
Mix High Power Urine Neutraliser and Mattress Pre-Spray at 250ml per litre of water.
Step 3: Apply Pre-Spray
Apply a heavy, even coat to the carpet using overlapping passes.
Allow the solution to dwell for 15 minutes, during which it will break down urine and deodorise the carpet.
Step 4: Agitation
After dwell time, use manual or mechanical scrubbing methods to thoroughly agitate the carpet fibres.
This helps lift contaminants and ensures the pre-spray penetrates effectively.
Step 5: Rinse Extraction
Prepare your rinse solution by mixing High Performance Rinse at 15ml per 10 litres of clean water in your extraction machine.
Rinse extract the carpet slowly and methodically.
Important: For every wet pass, follow with at least two dry passes. Maintain uniform, straight passes to prevent pile distortion or “shark’s teeth,” which can become permanent on wool carpets.
Step 6: Repeat or Spot Treatment
If staining remains, re-apply High Power Urine Neutraliser and Mattress Pre-Spray to brighten affected areas.
Allow to dwell or use a water claw to flush out heavily contaminated sections.
Step 7: Protective Coating
To extend the life of the carpet, apply WS Advanced Fabric Stain Protection at a 1:1 dilution.
This creates a long-lasting dirt and hydrophobic barrier and can be applied wet or dry.
